Apollo is the Greek god of light, healing, spring, prophecy and the arts. His twin sister is Artemis, goddess of hunting. Both belong to the twelve Olympic Gods. As protector of the arts he presided over the nine muses and was also worshipped as the god of healing. He also possessed the gift of prophecy, which he could also bestow on mortals.
